Armando Iannucci’s film “In The Loop” is a must see.  It is a masterful political satire  which shows people in both the UK and USA government running around, tripping over their words, not masterfully walking the line during the days leading up to a “war” with a country that is never mentioned.  Hands down the best character is the really foul mouthed British Director of Communications, Malcolm Tucker, who may or may not be based on Alastair Campbell, Blair’s C.D.

Tucker gives us many memorable quotes, like “Nazi Julie Andrews”, “lubricating horse cock”  and “I own you now, you are my Kunta Kinta” but the best quote from the film for me is Linton Barwick saying to Malcolm Tucker in the U.N. Meditation room:

“Ok firstly don’t raise your voice, this is a sacred place.  Now, you may not believe that and I may not believe that but by God it is a useful hypocrisy”.

Like I say , a brilliant satirical film, a must see, you will really DWL….
